This is the body of our email:
The proposed Callan Park Mental Health Festival is a youth driven effort that will raise funding and awareness for Mental Health education and promote preventive measures for mental health consumers, their carers, family, friends and the community that supports them. The Callan Park Festival is expected to attract around 60,000 visitors and local supporters and mass media attention
The Utopia Research Institute has over 700 youth volunteers eager to use their knowledge and skills in an ‘hands on situation’ to spread the word about mental ill health and its prevention. This project will be wholly managed, under the Institutes supervision, by graduates and undergraduates from TAFE and University studying major event management. This proposed event will offer a unique opportunity for local youth and their supporting families to serve their community.
The Utopia Research Institute Limited a self funded non-denominational Charitable Institution that is dedicated to improving the physical and mental health and education of children and their families, carers, and the community at large.
I have submitted a request to Ms Kyle Vernon, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority to hold a Mental Health Festival on 1 May 2010 and she has forwarded it on to the Department of Health seeking Land Owners Consent before a development application can be submitted to Leichhardt City Council.
I am seeking your endorsement and any support you may be able to provide in expediting this matter so that these young volunteers, who are working towards improving the community’s awareness of mental ill health issues may proceed with confidence, knowing that the current government is supportive of their endeavours.
I would like to meet with you, at your earliest convenience to discuss any issues and answer any questions you may have. I can be contacted on 0416 272 501. For more information, please refer to our website www.utopia.edu.au.
I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.
I’m sure they will all get around to answering us at some point… they are just a bit busy right now – why? Find out more…
