Community Centre

The Utopia Research Institutes proposed Community Centre within the recently abandoned hospital buildings at Callan Park will be an important resource for the Leichhardt community.

It will provide a physical space for the local community to meet and interact socially; it will help the general community and families form strong links in times of crisis;

The Community Centre will be a focal point for a range of programs including:

• mental health support
• personal development programs
• community support services
• educational programs
• recreational opportunities
• health, fitness and wellbeing activities

Our Community Clinic is designed to meet the needs of the community by providing essential community services such as:

• vision testing
• hearing tests
• diabetes testing
• heart / blood pressure testing
• general physical examinations
• drug and alcohol counseling

We will:

• involve the community in the planning, design and delivery of the Community Centre;
• seek to work collaboratively with government, community groups, charitable organisations and community service providers;
• ensure our design is flexible and adaptable to our communities changing needs and expectations.
