Family Clinic

Families have proven throughout history to be the single most important building block in a productive society. In today’s world, parents and children are faced with different challenges at different times in their lifecycle.

The Utopia Research Institute will be approaching the Department of Health and the Department of Education to propose the development of the Family Clinic and Parenting Lab within the recently abandoned hospital buildings at Callan Park.

This facility will be a unique family support, education and research facility and will be the first line of defense against the continuing epidemic of Mental Ill Health that has afflicted our children and our community.

The Family Clinic will enable parents learn about prevention and early intervention strategies aimed at preventing the development of future physiological and behavioral problems and also promote an environmental and social awareness of children’s healthy development.

The Family Clinic will insure that as a community we are supporting the current baby boom and insuring Leichhardt Council is one of the best communities to raise a family in.

It is well documented that early intervention initiatives can counteract biological and environmental disadvantage and allow children to follow a more positive developmental path both in health and education.

The clinic will provide essential services, such as:

  • 24 Hour Emergency Clinic
  • Pediatric Dentistry
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat
  • Vision and Hearing Tests
  • Child Development Assessment
  • General Physical Examinations
  • Behavioral Assessment and Counseling
  • Speech & Language Therapy Classes
  • Family Support Service
  • Interactive Parenting Cources

The Utopia Community Centre offer support and intervention services to families that are under stress, who have little support from their own family or are experiencing relationship or mental health difficulties with partners and/or children.

In addition, the centre will provide an array of courses and classes, such as:

  • Homework Help
  • Children’s Programs Ages 6 to 9
  • Play Groups
  • Working with children and disabilities

We invite you to support the Family Clinic at Callan Park by becoming a member today.
