As we are all well aware, mental illness is impacting on our population like a sweeping sandstorm, eventually affecting many people and increasing each day.

The Utopia Research Institute will be discussing some of these issues on radio on 2BACR Bankstown Auburn Community Radio on the 12th January 2011 Wednesday live on air at 5pm. Our featured guests will be none other than our Chief Executive Officer Katherine McCormick and of course, myself, the Utopia Spokesperson.

Mental health can impact anyone, regardless of your background. Utopia is fully committed to ensuring we can provide help to those who need it in a critical time in their lives.

Many young people in particular are taking their lives when they should be seeking treatment, many people are left isolated, many are misunderstood yet the government claims around 35% of the population will succumb to mental illness in their lifetime. Isn’t it about time we started to take notice of this instead of sweeping this under the carpet?
